Reflection 1978
What can we do but reflect?
I look to the cycles of the moon
The wax and wane of light and shadow
For luna reflects the sun
And all our tides, measured by the moon,
Are but the reflection of the sun.
What can we do but reflect?
What does it call forth within me, this wax and wane
Of Light and Shadow?
They are not equal, Light and Shadow
Because it is the Light that creates the Shadow,
And Shadow has no power but to follow after Light.
What does it call forth?
It is a mystery I see revealed in me
I am ordered in cycles like Luna
By that Greater Light
And like a yawning cub, I am almost awake
My night Shadows are yielding to the Light.
Thine inheritance, Child of the Kingdom!
No less than the winking stars and moonlight
No less than all that is
All things are ordered aright
You too
You may discern their reflection
How beloved, we who look back upon God.
