The Jaded Saint 1982
You believe in something from your gut
You stand for it and suffer for it
You do great things, and abstain from wrong
You tune in to the universe
And get your act kicked off stage by the world
Life deals you dirty
A host of priorities sails over your head
And the hours tick off on the clock
So it doesn’t matter any more
It wasn’t relative
At least, not in this light.
You still believe it, though.
You believe from your gut
You know people live and die for it.
You ponder. You pray.
You tune out the adversary’s scrabble
You give up all but one channel
Life deals you hard. Good. The harder the better.
Let them see. Let them watch.
You make your choices.
You can’t give it up.
You can put it down, but you can’t give it up.
You can’t give it up; the cost is too great
And in the light of your trial, we understand why.
