Fragile 10/25/07
Disappearing like a moth resting on the trunk of a tree
Fluttering toward the light on inflammable wings
Leaving dust on the fingers
Crippled by the least restraint
I colluded with you
In finding every excuse for your behavior
But in the end, consequences.
My choice is not to collude anymore.
I’m sorry for the pain it will cause you
But I hope.
My pain is as real as yours
It hurts as much
It depresses me,
It debilitates me as much as your pain does you.
I have to suck up and go on
And so do you.
So time and circumstance will set us apart
While the wounds are finally exposed to heal
We will be chaperoned.
Maybe someday, we will even really be friends
But now, you know of me only a dusting
Perhaps now we can each retrieve our own souls.
