One Day Again summer fall 2002
Once the birds were all my friends
(As God wills again one day)
They’d light upon my head and hands
But now they fly away
Oh, once we ate the bread of heaven
Food of angels was our fare
As we journeyed through the wilds
The birds flew in the air
Now all of heaven waits
For the day God wills again
Most blessed of all fates
For when all creatures will befriend.
So we walk in the garden bowers
My true love and I
With the song of the birds like golden showers
And not a sparrow shy
