Giving Over 10/8/07
For good or for ill.
They give over to the lusts of their hearts
And once engrossed in such exaggerated vanity
How will they be content with what is plain, and simple?
Once consumed by ideals that are unattainable fascinations,
Distortions of what is natural
How will they be content with what is real?
Won't the savory memories derail the negotiated promises?
Fall in love with a spell in your head
And ruin the person you lock it onto.
So all that confusion from the past
All the twisted reasons from before
With their roots winding everywhere make it impossible to truly love
Until you die
And the whole ugly history is dealt with
Not by fixing, mind you, but by death.
Faith is a huge leap.
Yes, we need help from outside ourselves.
We cannot do these things by ourselves
And the greatest help is the revelation of another way to live
And the next is the help to live it,
The promise of life
Superseding the certainty of failure.
