The Walkers
1) Adam Walker he was born in the woods
He knew the ways of the wild
And the pathways of the stars
Adam had to leave his stomping grounds
But he never moved to town
And where he was buried
Finally laid down
They didn’t say, no, they didn’t say
Oh that was a long time ago
Some folks laugh when you tell ‘em
They say that’s just a story
‘Bout the knowing of the wild
‘Bout the pathways of a man and the stars
2) Davie Walker he was born in a town
He knew the ways of the wild
And the pathways of the stars
Davie had to leave his stompin grounds
Yes, he later moved to town
Where he stayed 'til his dyin day
And that was long ago
Everybody knows it’s so
They can point to the record
‘Bout his knowing of the ways
‘Bout the pathways of a man and the stars
3) I am a Walker wasn’t born in the woods
I’m like a deer in a pasture
Like an owl in a cage
I’ve had to leave my stompin grounds
For a variety of towns
I still draw the breath, people know my face
Where I’ll lay my bones I cannot say
Seems a long time now
That I walk the woods
And I study the trails
Cause I want to know the ways
‘Bout the pathways of a soul to the stars
4) My brother Walker he was born across the sea
He knows the ways of the wild
And the pathways of the stars
My brother had to leave his stompin grounds
He never really moved to town
He was briefly buried
Temporarily laid down
But he didn’t stay, no he didn’t stay
That was some time ago
People argue bout the facts
But I don’t care what they say
‘Bout the knowing of the way
‘Bout the meeting of a man and the stars
