Old Pleas Aug 26 2000
My people, you have spoken long,
So hear me now.
What are you looking for?
Why do you criticize me? How do you find fault with me?
Haven’t I given you every thing?
Why do you speak against me? How have you no patience?
Have I not served you in every thing?
When will you be reconciled to me? When will you return?
Have I not opened the door to you? Entreated you through the ages?
I have a controversy with my people.
They are led by their minds
Though I have given them God
I have a heart for you, my people, a heart for you.
Is it not for me to challenge you? To cleanse you of wrongs?
Here is evidence, given for you.
Is it not for me to comfort you? To enable you to endure?
Here is grace, given for you.
My people, is it not for me to be your joining? To betroth you?
Here is mercy, given for you.
I will say as Moses said:
“I would God that all His servants prophesied.”
As Paul my friend said:
“I would that ye all prophesy.”
So shall it in deed be, for
You will see me.
My word is a word of comfort, my people,
A word of comfort.
